Coca-Cola Co. is looking to introduce a coffee-flavoured variant of its flagship brand, according to press reports. The Independent on Sunday said yesterday (17 April) that the drinks giant could release a coffee version of Coke in the US and Europe as soon as next year.

The company has already registered three potential brand names for the drink, the paper claimed: Coca-Cola Blak, Makkio and Maquio.

Although Coke would not comment to the newspaper about its plans for the new product, a spokesman said: "We are always exploring further brand innovations."

Earlier this year, Coke brought in Mary Minnick, former president of its Asia division, to head up a unit dedicated to bringing fresh ideas to the current product line.
