Coca-Cola Co is trialling a fizzy milk drink called Vio exclusively in the New York City metro area.

The drink is currently being test-marketed in natural food stores and delis in New York, sold in 8fl oz aluminium bottles for around US$2.50 each.

However, there are currently no plans to launch this product in any country in Europe, a Coca-Cola spokesperson told just-drinks today (28 July).

Vio is made of a combination of sparkling water, cane sugar and rBGH-free skimmed milk.

It contains no artificial flavours, preservatives or sweeteners, while claiming to offer 15% of recommended daily calcium intake and antioxidant vitamin C.

The Coca-Cola spokesperson said the drink is aimed at young adults who "seek healthier beverage options but won't compromise on enjoyment".

Vio comes in four flavours: Citrus Burst, Peach Mango, Tropical Colada and Very Berry.
