Coca-Cola Co has said that it will test its new 100-beverage fountain dispenser, Coca-Cola Freestyle, in southern California.

The new dispenser, which has taken four years to develop, uses a touch screen system to offer consumers a choice of 100 regular and low-calorie soft drinks.

Coca-Cola said yesterday (21 July) that it has installed Coca-Cola Freestyle in 10 Jack in the Box restaurants in San Diego County, as part of the California trial.

It plans to install the dispenser in select Subway, Carl's Jr, El Pollo Loco, Noodles and Pei Wei Asian Diner restaurants throughout the summer.

The drinks on offer include "many varieties of waters, juices, teas and sparkling beverages that have never before been sold in the US", Coca-Cola said.

The fountains also are also being tested in select fast-food restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia.
