Coca-Cola will sponsor the Paralympic Games in 2012

The Coca-Cola Co has extended its sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympics to become sponsor of the 2012 Paralympic Games.

The partnership, announced today (12 November), will see the soft drinks maker promote its brands and the games in the lead up to London 2012. The games will take place from 29 August to 9 September 2012.

The firm has been a "supporter" of the Paralympic movement since Barcelona in 1992, it said, and has had an involvement in the Olympics since 1928.

Daryl Jelinek, general manager of the London 2012 Coca-Cola Project Team, said: "We are proud to be extending our sponsorship of London 2012 to the Paralympic Games."

The US soft drinks giant said on Monday (9 November) that, through its corporate agreement with CBS Sports and Turner Sports, Powerade will become "official sports drink of the NCAA".
