The Coca-Cola Co's Mozambique unit, Coca-Cola Sabco, is considering building a new facility near the country's capital, Maputo.

If the plan goes ahead, the US$50m plant could double Coca-Cola Sabco's production in the country to 10m cases per year. However, a spokesperson for the company told just-drinks today (6 January) that the plans are yet to be finalised.

"The investment plans have not yet been finalised by the Sabo board," the spokesperson said. "At this point Sabco finds it premature to comment in detail."

Earlier this week, Coca-Cola was reported to be looking at opening its first bottling plant in Bangladesh to meet growing demand for CSDs in the country.
