The Coco-Cola Co announced its plan to buy into Monster Beverage Corp last year

The purchase of a 16.7% holding for US$2.15bn was initially announced last year. It sees Coca-Cola transfer ownership of its worldwide energy business, including NOS, Full Throttle, Burn, Mother, BU, Gladiator, Samurai, Nalu, BPM, Play and Power Play, Ultra and Relentless, to Monster.

In turn, Monster has transferred its non-energy business, including Hansen’s Natural Sodas, Peace Tea, Hubert’s Lemonade and Hansen’s Juice Products, to Coca-Cola.

Since the announcement, the pair along with their bottlers, have amended their distribution arrangements in the US and Canada by expanding into additional territories and entering into long-term agreements. Coca-Cola has also become Monster’s "preferred global distribution partner" with new international distribution commitments with bottlers in Germany and Norway.
