Coca-Cola Amatil will fill the MD Australian Beverages position in April

The managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil's Australian Beverages unit has relinquished his position for health reasons.

The company said today that Peter McLoughlin will step down to take an extended period of sick leave. He will not return to the role.

"We have agreed that [McLoughlin] will take a period of extended sick leave and, regrettably, will step down from his position as MD of our Australian Beverages business," said CCA group MD Alison Watkins.

Meanwhile, Peter West, who is currently MD of dairy and drinks at Lion, will assume the Australian Beverages MD position on 30 April. In the meantime, the role will be covered on an interim basis by group CFO Martyn Roberts. In turn, the company's group general manager for financial planning, Paul Cooke, will cover the CFO position.

"I want to recognise the huge contribution Peter has made to Coca-Cola Amatil, and the great affection and respect we have for him," said Watkins.
