Cobra Beer has appointed another former Beam Global Spirits & Wine employee, this time to fill the newly-created role of on-trade channel controller.

The UK-based company said today (6 March) that Huw Bement, who held a similar position at Beam Global and previously worked for both Allied Domecq and Coca-Cola Enterprises, will oversee a sales team of 23 people in the post.

Bement will be charged with the task of "significantly growing the brand's presence in the on-trade sector" as well as take responsibility for managing the retail and wholesale customers within the channel, the company said.

Bement said: "Joining Cobra is a fantastic challenge and opportunity for me. Cobra is already a very well established brand in the UK drinks industry but has enormous potential to grow in the on-trade sector. I'm very confident that, with the expertise at the company and appointments being made, the on-trade can be an area of huge success for Cobra in the years to come."

In June last year, Adrian McKeon left Beam Global, where he had been managing director of the UK unit, to become CEO at Cobra. Nick Paget followed McKeon in January this year, assuming the position of commercial director.
