The managing director of Cobra Beer's Indian unit has left the company after just over six months in the position.

The UK-based company confirmed today (16 October) that Poonam Chandel has left the company "to pursue other interests". Chandel had been with Cobra India for two years, serving as COO prior to moving to the MD post in April, a spokesperson for Cobra told just-drinks.

Replacing Chandel will be Ravi Kaza, who joins Cobra from Asia Pacific Breweries, where he had been COO for South Asia.

"I am delighted that Ravi will be joining Cobra," said company chairman Lord Karan Bilimoria. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of the Asian drinks market to our management team.

"Cobra is now the fastest growing beer brand in India, and much of the credit for that belongs to Poonam," Lord Bilimoria added. "I'd like to thank her for all the hard work she put into growing Cobra in India."

The switch takes effect from today.
