The Conseil Interprofessionel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), the Bordeaux wine industry's trade body, has cut its promotional budget for 2005 to €21.6m (US$28.7m) compared to €23m in 2004, according to local reports.

The cutbacks are apparently the result of a fall in CIVB's projected revenues for 2005, which are estimated to be €30.9m compared to €31.4m this year.

CIVB president, Christian Delpeuch, said that the lower budget will probably result in the decrease of the pure advertisement activities.
