Henry Chevallier Guild, partner in the Aspall Cyder group, is to be the new chairman of the UK's National Association of Cider Makers (NACM).

Guild, who is already vice-chairman, will take up his two-year term as chair on 2 September, said Aspall yesterday (24 August).

Guild replaces Fenella Tyler, who has reached the end of her two-year term in charge.

"Over the last few years Aspall has grown from a tiny producer to a medium-sized player in the cider category. That scope of experience means I can represent every perspective of the industry," said Guild.

"The recession is still biting hard but cider is proving more resilient than other categories," he said, adding that sustainability will be a key theme of his term.
