Japan's brewers received good news this week, as figures showed that the combined shipments of beer, happoshu and beer-like products from Japan's top five breweries grew 5.6% in August this year.

The total volumes reached 48.89m, according to the Brewers Association of Japan (BAJ).

The figure marked a year-on-year increase for the first time in three months.
