The Chalone Wine Group has sold its Vintage Lane Winery, part of its subsidiary Dynamite Vineyards, for an undisclosed sum to Justi Creek LLC. The sale included only the winery and none of the inventory or grape contracts of Dynamite Vineyards. Malcolm Seibly remains winemaker for Dynamite.

Dynamite began life as part of Carmenet Winery which Chalone sold in September 2002 to Foster's Beringer Balss unit. However, Chalone retained ownership of Dynamite Vineyards and the estate winery and vineyard in Sonoma County.

Chalone Wine Group president & CEO Tom Selfridge said: "With the popularity of Dynamite wines we project we'll soon reach the limit of our capacity at Vintage Lane. To allow us to grow Dynamite and to be closer to most of our grape sources, we have already purchased land in Lake County. We are looking at our options of when we can move north. Until we move, Dynamite will be made at a custom crush facility."

Robert Nicholson of International Wine Associates served as the exclusive financial advisor to The Chalone Wine Group in this transaction.
