Steve Kearns, a former Unilever executive, takes over from Cawston Press founder Stephen Unwin, who remains on the company's board. Unwin was acting-MD until Kearns joined Cawston in November.

Kearns will spearhead Cawston's expansion into export markets such as the US and Benelux, the company said yesterday.

"I'm incredibly excited to be joining Cawston Press at such a fantastic time in its growth," Kearns said. "It's proving to be a remarkable brand and provides exactly what consumers are looking for in their soft drinks."

Northamptonshire-based Cawston was founded in 1986 and produces still and sparkling fruit juices under the Cawston Press brand. In 2013, it launched Cawston Sparklers, a range of pressed fruit drinks.

It is targeting a GBP20m (US$29m) turnover by 2018.
