Mexican company Autentica Tequilera has lined up its flagship super-premium Tequila brand for the US market.

Spirits firm Castle Brands said yesterday (7 February) that it will be the exclusive importer and marketer for the family-owned company's 'Tequila Tierras Autenticas de Jalisco' brand in the country. Further specific details behind the tie-up were not disclosed.

Translating as "authentic Tequila from the soil of Jalisco", Tierras will launch later this year and will be available in blanco, reposado and añejo variants.

Tequilera was founded four years ago by Javier, Alfonso and Daniel Orendain, the third generation of a family of Tequila producers.

"We are proud to work with the Orendain family on such an exciting project," said Castle's president and COO, Donald Marsh. "The Tequila category offers tremendous growth opportunity in the US, and Castle Brands is well positioned to benefit from that growth with its strong route to market for upscale spirits."

Tierras joins Boru vodka, Gosling's rum and Clontarf Irish whiskey in Castle's portfolio.
