The 8.8%-abv Black Eagle was unveiled yesterday in Yangon and is described as a "dark-roasted beer... [with a] rich but smooth taste". Carlsberg said the beer "steers the night to the right direction for a re-energized tomorrow".

"We believe that Myanmar people deserve a better relaxation after a hard-working day to release their body tiredness and stress," said Ted Liang, marketing director for Carlsberg Myanmar. "With the strong and smooth taste and perfectly balanced bitter and sweet aftertaste, I trust Black Eagle Stout will be a perfect fit for those who wants to stay strong, confident and steady in their daily lives."

Black Eagle Stout will be available in Myanmar from 1 March in draught, 33cl cans and 50cl cans.

Carlsberg formed its Myanmar JV in 2013, around the same time as a number of beverage companies, including PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Co, entered the country amid a loosening of international trade sanctions.
