Carlsberg will operate London Fields Brewery through a joint venture with Brooklyn Brewery

The company said today that the East London site will be operated in a joint venture with Brooklyn Brewery. Financial details behind the deal were not disclosed, however local newspaper reports priced the site at GBP3m (US$3.9m).

London Fields' beers are currently contract brewed away from the East London site. Carlsberg today outlined plans to re-introduce brewing at the original Hackney location. Investment will also include an upgraded taproom and events space.

"Our customers, and specifically those in London and other major cities, are looking to us to offer them the best possible range of interesting craft beers – and we think that, with nurturing, London Fields Brewery has huge potential," said Julian Momen, Carlsberg UK's CEO. "It's the right move for us as we build a credible craft portfolio."

The London Fields Brewery portfolio includes Craft Lager, Easy IPA and Shoreditch Triangle IPA.

Last week, Carlsberg and Brookyln Brewery confirmed the launch of a new craft beer, created specifically for Hong Kong.
