Campari continues on its buying spree

Gruppo Campari has brought its Australian RTD packaging in house with the purchase of the company it currently uses in the country.

The Italy-headquartered company said earlier today (28 June) that it will buy Copack Beverage A Limited Partnership for AUD20m (US$18.6m). Copack has been the supplier of Campari's Wild Turkey range of RTDs in Australia since 2010.

“This acquisition further strengthens the company’s international supply chain capabilities, whilst adding flexibility to the local organisation, heightening quality control and further supporting innovation capabilities,” said Campari today. “Moreover, it provides the group with an opportunity to support the company’s future growth in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Australia accounted for 6.1% of Campari's total net sales last year, the company noted.

Based in Melbourne, Copack was established in 2007. The company also produces a range of third-party brands for the Australian market.

Last month, Campari appointed a new MD for its Asia-Pacific region after the previous head left to "pursue personal interests".
