Value sales totalled EUR666.5m (US$882m) for the 12 months to the end of Decemebr. However, export volumes fell by 1.5% on 2010, to almost 88m bottles, BIVB said today (27 February).

The value increase was largely due to shipments to the US, Burgundy's second export market after the UK. Exports to the US rose by 33% to EUR141m, with volumes up 19%.

The UK proved tougher, with value exports down 7% and volume exports down 17%. This meant that Burgundy wine exports within the EU, fell by 4% in value and 13% in volume.
