Bryggerigruppen has revealed plans to acquire a Polish brewery. The Danish company said today (4 April) that it has entered an agreement to pay DKK217m (US37.6m) for the brewery-related assets and activities of Polskie Brok-Strzelec.
Bryggerigruppen has also entered two agreements to acquire a total of 48% of the shares in Polish brewery Perla-Browary Lubelskie for a total of DKK106m.
The activities acquired from Brok-Strzelec are expected to be included in the financial statements as of 1 May, the company said. A slight negative effect from the acquisition in the 2005 result is expected, but Bryggerigruppen maintains its pretax profit estimate for this year of between DKK290m and DKK340m.
Brok-Strzelec operates two breweries in Poland. The Jedrzejow brewery situated in the Krakow area and the Brok brewery situated in Koszalin, in northern Poland.
Bryggerigruppen also said that 22% of the shares of Perla-Browary Lubelskie will be acquired directly from Browary Polskie Brok-Strzelec and an additional 26% in the same company is acquired from a Polish financial institution.
The final realisations are subject to approval by the Polish competition authorities which is expected to be obtained this month, Bryggerigruppen said.
