The Jack Daniel's owner said yesterday that the launch aims to enhance responsible decision making. The website includes nutritional values for brands such as Jack Daniel's, Finlandia, Canadian Mist, Jimador, Herradura, Chambord and Woodford Reserve.

The platform, which will be highlighted via social media, will list standard nutritional information, such as calories, fat, sodium and carbohydrates as well as alcohol content per standard drink.

"We believe the more information a consumer has, the better prepared they can be to make smart, responsible decisions about their alcohol consumption" said company corporate responsibility director Rob Frederick.

The initiative follows moves last year by Diageo, which also publishes nutritional information on certain packs, including Johnnie Walker Red Label.

Meanwhile, several brewers in the US last year signed up to The Brewers' Voluntary Disclosure Initiative, which sees companies provide detailed information on nutrition content and ingredients.
