Brown-Forman acquired The BenRiach Distillery Co last year

Brown-Forman's Australian unit is set to take over the distribution of its BenRiach Distillery Co single malt Scotch whisky brands in the country.

The company said today that it would bring BenRiach, The GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh in-house from 1 July. The move follows Brown-Forman's acquisition last year of parent firm The BenRiach Distillery Co

Brown-Forman said it has been working on a market-by-market basis to "ensure future distribution of these ... whiskies positions them for optimal long-term growth". The brands were previously handled in Australia by Island2Island and World of Whisky.

"Both distributors have done a wonderful job in seeding them," said Marc Satterthwaite, VP & MD for Brown-Forman in Australia, New Zealand & the Pacific Islands. "We are privileged to have the opportunity to continue to nurture and grow these brands to reach their full potential. Furthermore, we believe that the ... single malt whiskies, when combined with the Jack Daniel's family and our other premium brands, will allow us to provide a more comprehensive whisk(e)y portfolio offering."
