US drinks group, Brown-Forman, has announced that Allied Domecq is to take over distribution of its brands, which include Jack Daniel's and Southern Comfort, in Turkey with immediate effect. Allied Domecq takes over from the Turkish company, Yilmat Mumessillik ve Ticaret, which had been distributing Brown-Forman's products in Turkey since 1997.

Brown-Forman sees Turkey as one of the leading emerging markets for its whisky brand, Jack Daniel's, and believes Allied Domecq, which already handles Brown-Forman's brands in many Central and Eastern European countries, is best positioned to develop the brand.

"We're very pleased to expand our excellent distribution relationship with Allied Domecq to include Turkey," said John Accardo, senior vice president and managing director for Brown-Forman's Eurasian operation.
