Britvic has said it remains confident of boosting FY profits by as much as 9% despite posting flat Q1 sales.

The company expects to hit its guidance

The UK-based soft drinks maker said today sales in the three months to December were GBP304.3m (US$459m), a 0.4% fall on the same quarter last year. GB sales were down by 1% while international sales slipped by 4%.

However, Britvic said it expects to deliver group EBIT for the fiscal year of between GBP164m to GBP173m. In FY results released in November, group EBIT was GBP158.1m.

CEO Simon Litherland said: “Whilst we expect the trading environment to remain challenging, we have strong marketing plans and a significant innovation pipeline in place for 2015.

"These strong commercial plans, supported by ongoing cost benefits from our major strategic initiatives programme, mean that we remain confident of delivering further profitable growth in 2015 in line with our guidance range.”

Britvic's share price was up by 5.3% as of 1040 in trading this morning.

Britvic yesterday announced it was to scrap its full-sugar Robinsons range as part of a revamp of the cordial brand.
