Britvic has seen its sales go into reverse, with the group's fiscal third-quarter recording a drop following H1's top-line increase.

In a trading statement earlier today, the UK-based soft drinks said sales in the three months to 7 July came in 1.5% down on the corresponding quarter last year, totalling GBP360.1m (US$448.2m). The performance follows a fiscal first-half in which Britvic's top-line was up by just under 2%.

The update flagged sales increases in Britvic's home market - "despite the market declining in value and volume" - with Brazil and the International reporting regions both delivering "solid" performances.

In France and Ireland, however, the group said it suffered a "further softening" in the three months.

Brand-specific details were not present in the short statement.

CEO Simon Litherland

"Overall, we have delivered a solid performance against a more challenging backdrop in quarter three. We remain confident of achieving market expectations for the full year, underpinned by the strength of our brand portfolio, exciting commercial plans and a tight focus on cost control."
