BrewDog is launching a video-streaming service for consumers that offers a range of beer, travel and entertainment shows.

The BrewDog Network will be available through the web and on a smartphone app

The BrewDog Network will be available through the web and on a smartphone app

The BrewDog Network, available via the web and as a smartphone app, will run 13 original series including a show featuring BrewDog founders James Watt and Martin Dickie as they travel the world sampling beer. Other pieces of original content will be Four Sheets, which highlights drinks culture around the world, and comedy game show Are You Smarter than a Drunk Person?

The service will cost consumers GBP4.99 (US$6.50) each per month.

Unveiling the service yesterday, BrewDog said it is pioneering a new model of subscription video-on-demand, "centred around a passion for craft beer".

"This is a genuine move to take the video-on-demand revolution to a new level," Watt said. "Driven by true passion and enthusiasm, we are doing exactly what we did with craft beer; raising standards and eyebrows in equal measure."

Watt said the move was partly motivated by the cancellation of Brew Dogs, an Esquire Network travelogue show featuring himself and Dickie that ran in the US for three seasons. The duo's new show, called The BrewDog Show will have a similar format.

Original content on the new network will be joined by paid-for content including William Shatner's 'Brown Bag Wine Tasting, in which the former Star Trek captain interviews people while drinking, and a range of food-and-drink documentaries.

In BrewDog's H1 results, released last week, sales jumped by over 50% as the brewer's investments in the on-premise paid off.
