Boreal Water Collection, the US private label bottled water firm, has agreed a US$24m deal with Soho Corp to supply the Chinese firm's domestic market.

The 36-month long agreement, announced today, will include Soho selling Boreal’s Catskill Mountain Spring Water under the brand name Catsky. Soho has gained “all necessary approvals” from the Chinese government to import Boreal's products, the US firm said.

Francine Lavoie, Boreal's CEO, said: “We strongly believe that this strategic alliance will help us penetrate this large Asian market earlier than expected and generate profits for our loyal shareholders in our 2015 forecast of revenues.”

Asia is expected to drive demand for bottled water, helping the category to grow to around US$279.65bn globally by 2020, according to a report published in July
