The UK-based brewer and pub operator confirmed earlier today it has agreed a "long-term" distribution deal in its home market with Singha owner Boon Rawd Brewery Co. The move marks the end of Molson Coors' UK handling of the brand, which kicked off ten years ago.

When contacted by just-drinks, a spokesperson for Shepherd Neame said the arrangement is a "long-term renewable agreement" that does not have a fixed term.

"We look forward to developing a long-term relationship with Shepherd Neame to increase Singha's brand appeal and distribution channels in the UK," said Boonrawd Trading International's MD, M.L. Chandchutha Chandratat. "Both companies are long-standing family businesses with similar cultures, so it made great sense to form this partnership."

Reaching out to just-drinks, Molson Coors marketing director Jim Shearer said: "Our agreement with Boon Rawd to exclusively distribute Singha comes to its natural end on 31 July. After careful consideration and working together for around ten years, together with Boon Rawd, we have decided not to renew the agreement. We are now in a transition period with ... Shepherd Neame and our customers can rest assured there will be no interruption to service or supply during this time.

"This decision allows us to continue to focus on growing our own premium world beer portfolio, including Cobra, Pravha and Staropramen."

Four years ago, a Thai joint-venture featuring privately-owned Boon Rawd bought a portfolio of 32 hotels in the UK.
