Distil, the UK group formerly known as Blavod Wines & Spirits, has appointed a new finance director.

Distil has a new finance director

The London-based firm said today that Shaun Claydon has replaced Sarah Bertolotti in the role with “immediate effect”. 

Claydon was most recently a consultant for corporate advisory practice CMS. Prior to that he spent four years as CFO at medical device group Orteq Sports Medicine. 

Don Goulding, executive chairman of AIM-listed Distil, said Claydon's experience will be “invaluable as we accelerate our growth in the UK and internationally”. 

No reason was given for Bertolotti's departure, or details on her future. Goulding added: "I would like to express our thanks to Sarah Bertolotti who...played a key role in the transformation of the company during the last four years. On behalf of the board of Distil, I wish her every success for the future.”

Distil's brands include Blavod Original Black Vodka, Blackwood's Vintage Gin, Blackwood's Limited Edition Vintage Gin, Blackwood's Vodka, RedLeg Spiced Rum, Diva Vodka and Jago's Vanilla Cream Liqueur.  The brands are sold in the UK, US, Germany, Spain, Australia and Russia.

The company changed its name from Blavod Wines & Spirits last April. In October 2013, the company raised GBP571,300 (US$924,134) from a share placing
