Château La Rèze Gravade specialises in organic vineyards

French organic wines trader Biovidis has pulled out of the acquisition of Château La Rèze Gravade in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.

The purchase, from Louis and Henri Andrieu for an undisclosed sum, was first announced in March.

"The acquisition has been put on hold for the time being, largely as a result of us underestimating the investment which needs to be made on the estate," the Loire Valley-based company's commercial manager, Didier Gouzien, told just-drinks today (19 July).

"We have not closed the door on it completely but we consider that now is not the best time to conclude a deal."

Based in Azille, Château La Rèze Gravade is one of the three biggest organic grape-cultivating vineyards in France, and produces AOC Minervois and Vins de Pays d'Oc. It will continue to be one of Biovidis' suppliers.
