Belvedere is committed to disposing of Marie Brizard by the end of this month, a report in French business newspaper Les Echos said yesterday (21 June).

Marie Brizard, which includes William Peel whisky and Berger pastis, must be sold off as part of a deal between Belvedere and the French courts to bring down the drinks group's debt and enable it to relaunch from bankruptcy protection.

In March, ThaiBev refused to deny its interest in Marie Brizard, but the Chang beer brewer would not comment further.

Belvedere, which also owns Sobieski vodka, saw net losses for 2009 plunge to EUR177.6m (US$219m), compared to EUR61m in 2008.
