The German drinks company, Berentzen-Gruppe AG, has reported earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of €645,000 ($629,000) for the first half of 2002, against a loss before interest and tax of €60,000 ($58,500) in the corresponding period in 2001.

However, sales revenues excluding alcohol duties fell by 10% from €101.4m ($98.4m) to €91.5m ($89.2m) for the first half. During the first six months of the year, Berentzen has reduced its workforce from 691 to 645.
