German spirits group Berentzen has replaced the president of its US unit with a former Whyte & Mackay and Pernod Ricard executive only a year since the division was established.

The company, which set-up the unit in January last year, appointed Scott Campbell as its new US arm’s president last month. Alain Barbet, who joined the unit as CEO & president from Palm Bay Spirits when it was established, left the group in December last year by "mutual agreement", a Berentzen spokesperson confirmed to just-drinks today (25 February).

Campbell was previously on the US executive team at Whyte & Mackay, the Scotch whisky subsidiary of Diageo-controlled United Spirits. Prior to that he held roles in sales and marketing at Pernod’s US unit.

His duties at Berentzen include overseeing the company’s liqueur brands in the US as well as “launching multiple innovation brands in 2014”, the group said.

Campbell will report to Torsten Timm, MD of Berentzen’s international division.

Berentzen also said today it has appointed Park Street to replace Total Beverage Solutions as its exclusive importer in the US from next month.
