French drinks group Belvédère has reported a 2011 turnover of EUR910.7m (US$1.2bn), an increase of 5.8% on the previous year.

On a like-for-like basis, sales rose by 8.1% over the 12 months to the end of December. Belvédère's president and CEO, Krzysztof Trylinski, said that Poland and France, its two most important markets, drove growth.

He praised "our capacity to create and develop brands and give them a lasting presence on the market". He also highlighted the success of Sobieski vodka in the US.

Poland accounted for around 60% of Belvédère's global sales. Net sales there rose by 6.9%, largely due to its Krupnik brand vodka.

Belvédère is seeking to reach a debt repayment deal with its creditors, based on the sale of non-core assets. It is due to appear before the Court of Appeal of Nimes on 8 March.
