Beam Suntory will use one of its Highland Scotch whiskies

Beam Suntory is to launch a Jim Beam extension mixed with Scotch exclusively into Travel Retail next year.

The company will roll out Kentucky Dram into global channels in June, just-drinks has learned. The 40% Jim Beam-branded Bourbon will be priced at EUR34.99 (US$44) for one litre. It targets the increase in demand for Bourbon across the world and aims to help premiumise the category.

Just-drinks understands that Kentucky Dram is “infused” with a Highland Scotch from the Beam Suntory portfolio. It is being introduced to customers of Beam Suntory and Edrington's Travel Retail arm, Maxxium, at the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) exhibition in Cannes, France this week. Maxxium is also introducing a small-batch Jim Beam Bourbon, due to be released next year.

Blended whiskies from more than one country are not unprecedented in Travel Retail. In 2011, St James Distillery launched Orbis Aged World Whiskey, a blend of aged whiskeys from Scotland, Ireland, the US, Canada and Japan.
