The Jim Beam owner currently operates out of Deerfield, 30 miles north of Chicago. The company said the move was part of its plans to "strategically [focus] resources in key cities around the world, including Chicago".

Beam Suntory plans to lease 110,000 square feet in a building on the Chicago River.

Chairman & CEO Matt Shattock said the move would mean the company was closer to a "diverse pool of talent".

The company will relocate its headquarters in phases, starting later this year. The move will affect around 450 employees spanning functions such as marketing, sales, finance, legal, human resources, IT, supply chain and communications.

Yesterday, Beam Suntory unveiled a redesign for its Jim Beam brand.
