Jim Beam Double Oak will roll out across the US this month

Beam Suntory has extended the roll-out of its Jim Beam Double Oak expression to the US.

The company, which initially launched the iteration in the UK in March, said earlier this week that it will start appearing on shelves in the US this month. A 75cl bottle will cost in the region of US$22.

In the UK, Jim Beam Double Oak retails at around GBP27.99 (US$37) per 70cl bottle.

The brand extension, which forms a permanent addition to the Jim Beam portfolio, comprises Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey that has been transferred between two different new American oak barrels.

Late last year, Beam Suntory and Brown-Forman locked horns over the latter's attempt to register 'Woodford Reserve Double Oaked' with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Beam Suntory argued that the term 'double oaked' is "a generic designation that is incapable of distinguishing [the] applicant's alcoholic beverages from those produced and sold by others".
