Beam Inc opened an innovation centre earlier this year

Beam Inc has announced plans for a new US$1.7m downtown business centre in Louisville, Kentucky to centralise its North American business.

The 'Global Business Services Center', part of the company's efficiency drive, will open in the second-quarter of next year, Beam said yesterday (8 November). It will be the “primary point of contact” for Beam's North American unit in payroll, benefits, compensation and other key financial processes, the company said.

“Our new Global Business Services Center will house top talent and put Beam’s key business transactional activities in one of the most vibrant business capitals in the state,” said Juan Rodriguez, senior director of Global Business Services at Beam.

The centre will house 60 staff, half of whom are already hired and working at an interim site south of Louisville. The refit of the second-floor space will start immediately, Beam said.

The new centre follows the opening of Beam's innovation hub just outside Louisville and a new visitor's centre at its nearby Bourbon factory in October.
