Reports have suggested that the Colombian brewer, Bavaria, is negotiating with the Venezuelan brewer, Empresas Polar, about Bavaria increasing its stake in the Peruvian brewer, Union de Cervecerias Peruanas Backus & Johnston SAA, known as Backus, in which both companies own stakes. However, the inside sources quoted said that no deal was imminent.
