Baltika Breweries, the Russian beer market leader owned by Carlsberg, has begun to export beer to Chile.

The Russian brewer shipped 10,000 litres of Arsenalnoe Traditional beer from Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg to the Latin American market in mid-October.

Arsenalnoe Traditional beer will be distributed throughout Chile, with most sales concentrated in the largest cities of the country, the brewer said.

Baltika Breweries said it had created a label with a Latinised Arsenalnoe logo specifically for the Chilean market, as well as a special 'four-pack' packaging.

Dmitri Kistev, the director of exports at Baltika Breweries, said: "Baltika Breweries is the only Russian company supplying beer to Chile. The high economic potential of the country and the growth in popularity of imported beer among the local population make this an attractive market for us.

"Strengthening our positions in Latin America is another step towards the achievement of one of the strategic goals of our company: to become the standard in the world beer industry."
