The success of a golf promotion in four Asian airports has seen Ballantine's line up further campaign around the world.

The Pernod Ricard-owned Scotch whisky teamed up with Callaway Golf in South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong to offer Ballantine's purchasers golf sets with selected Ballantine's products.

Ballantine's said today (19 December) that the success of the travel retail promotion will see the campaign visit airports in Japan and Australia and New Zealand. Specific plans for the campaign were not unveiled.

"The partnership with Callaway Golf, our first regional activity since acquiring Ballantine's, was designed to increase sales and drive customer loyalty", said Alain Dufossé, managing director of Pernod Ricard Asia Duty Free.

"Throughout the promotion we had very positive feedback from customers and from trade buyers, who liked the concept of the in-store activity. The campaign attracted travellers' attention, enhanced awareness of Ballantine's and ultimately drove incremental sales across Asia.

Earlier this year, Chivas Brothers, the Pernod unit responsible for Ballantine's, completed the investment of GBP480,000 (US$897,000) in the expansion of the brand's Glenburgie distillery in Speyside. Capacity at the site is subsequently 50% higher than before, at 4.2m litres.
