Controversy surrounding the Peruvian brewer Backus & Johnston continues. The Peruvian brewer has once more denied that the series of recent stock were a collusion by regional powerhouses to take control of the country's only domestic beer maker. "The operations were completely separate," Backus general manager Carlos Bentin told El Comercio newspaper, referring to recent stake purchases by Venezuela's Cisneros Group and Colombia's biggest brewer, Bavaria.
