Bacardi is "seriously interested" in vodka-making in Estonia according to quotes by Signe Ratso, deputy chancellor of the Estonian Economic Affairs Ministry, in the Estonian press today.

Ratso, who is reported to have met with representatives of Bacardi on Monday, said that Bacardi is interested in the production of quality vodka and is going to create its own brand for that purpose.
He went on to say that Estonia has the advantage of having a centuries-long experience in spirits and vodka-making and Bacardi wants the whole production cycle to be local.

According to the reports Bacardi now has a preliminary contract with Onistar, the only Estonian firm with its own distillery, Ratso said. But an Onistar spokesman denied that any contract had been signed. He did confirm, however, that there had been talks.
The Estonian reports claimed that Bacardi was after a premium vodka for the US market to retail at around US$30.
