Bacardi has added three directors to its current board.

The privately-held spirits giant confirmed today (13 September) that Robert Corti, Philip Shearer and Toten Comas have been elected.

Corti is chairman of the Avon Products Foundation. He is also chairman of the audit committee of software company Activision.

Shearer is group president at The Estée Lauder Companies. He has also held various senior level positions at L'Oréal and the Elizabeth Arden division of Eli Lilly.

Comas was an alternate director at Bacardi from 2000 to 2002. He is president of Propiedades Coba, a commercial real estate development firm, located in Spain. Comas joined Bacardi & Co. in 1969 as a Bacardi rum blender in Nassau and continued that position until 1977.

"These highly accomplished individuals bring vast experience in the consumer products industry to Bacardi's board of directors," said company chairman Facundo Bacardi. "They are distinguished business leaders who offer unique insights into premium brands.

"The appointments also demonstrate the company's continued strong commitment to good corporate governance," he concluded.
