The Bulgarian anti-monopoly watchdog has launched an investigation into the sale by the country’s leading wine producer Domain Boyar of its Yambol winery to Bulgarian winery Vinprom Peshtera.

Bulgarian press reports today said the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) was investigating the sale on grounds that the deal was in breach of the Protection of Competition Act. According to the CPC the companies failed to register the deal with it.

According to the reports, the companies could now face fines but no cancellation of the deal.
