Australian Vintage has promoted two of its regional leaders to the newly-created positions of chief operating officer.

Julian Dyer, the wine group's GM for the UK & Europe, will now be known as COO for the region, Australian Vintage said today. At the same time, Dyer's peer in Australasia & North America, Cameron Ferguson, will assume the same position in his reporting area.

The appointments form part of the group's plan to "streamline" its sales, marketing and packaging operations globally.

"We have taken the decision to re-align the core components of our business making AVL a more agile business with enhanced capabilities," said CEO Neil McGuigan. "The move will increase our ability to deliver on our vision of making great quality wine accessible to everyone around the world for every occasion.

"It is a very important development as we continue to evolve our business into a world-class branded wine company."

Dyer added: "The changes will allow us to truly align sales, marketing and supply chain to our customers' needs.''

Earlier this year, Australian Vintage launched a range of de-alcoholised wines into the UK.
