Asconi Corporation, the Eastern European wine and spirit producer, is to ship wines to Switzerland. The company announced yesterday that it has entered into a contract for shipment of its wines to the country.

In a statement, Constantin Jitaru, president and CEO of Asconi, said: "We received this first order for the Vitis Hincest Reserve and Limited Reserve varietals including Reserve Chardonnay 2001, Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2001 and Reserve Merlot 2000.

"We are pleased to see that our efforts to bring back the reputation of Moldova as a significant wine making region are resulting in recognition in new markets," added Jitaru. "In 2003, Asconi added Israel and Germany to its portfolio, and we are looking forward to new market entries this year."
