Ascentia Wine Estates - coming to a US market near you

Ascentia Wine Estates is looking to boost its domestic presence through a distribution deal with Southern Wine & Spirits.

The California-based wine company, which also owns wineries in Washington and Idaho, confirmed yesterday (7 December) that it has signed a “multi-year” agreement that will see Southern handle distribution of Ascentia's brands in 23 open and control markets across the country. Southern previously covered only two states for Ascentia.

The agreement takes immediate effect.

“We look forward to many years of successful growth for the wonderful brands of Ascentia,” said Southern’s wine division senior VP & president, Mel Dick. “These agreements build on our long-standing relationship with these stunning wines, which represent a varied fine wine appellation experience - from prime growing regions in California to the State of Washington to Idaho.”

The markets covered by the new and existing agreements are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Among Ascentia's brands are Atlas Peak, Geyser Peak, Covey Run and Ste Chapelle, all of which were bought from Constellation Brands in 2008.
