The Japanese brewer Asahi Breweries will unveil details to the market of its new beer-like product at the beginning of next week, the company said today.

Rival brewers have already had some success in this new category.

Sapporo Breweries introduced "Draft One" this time last year. It is free of malt or wheat, so dodges the high taxes usually placed on regular beer nor a "happoshu" beer.

Asahi has already indicated it will begin to sell a similar product this summer.

Sectors: Beer & cider

Companies: Sapporo Holdings
