Bowmore 12 Year Old has also joined Beam Suntory's peated-malt portfolio in India

Beam Suntory is returning the Ardmore Scotch whisky brand to India after a four-year hiatus with the launch of Ardmore Legacy.

Initially launched in the UK in 2014, Ardmore Legacy will roll out in India under Beam Suntory's peated-malt portfolio. Legacy is the first Ardmore expression to be available in India since an older variant shipped to India in 2012, Beam Suntory told just-drinks.

The Ardmore brand was owned by Beam Inc until Suntory Holdings bought the US spirits producer in 2014 and created the Beam Suntory unit.

Ardmore Legacy will join beam Suntory's other peated malts in India, including Laphraoig 10 Year Old and Bowmore 12 Year Old, which Beam Suntory also relaunched in the country this year. Bowmore, part of Suntory's Morrison Bowmore unit until the Beam Inc deal, was previously distributed in India by another company, just-drinks was told. It is now available in India in six key markets - Delhi, Haryana, Kolkata, Bangalore, Maharashtra and Goa.

Speaking about the expanded peated-malt portfolio, Beam Suntory said: "India is one of the world's leading Scotch markets, and we expect these incredible brands to become exclusive and aspirational expressions in India."
